Trilogy acquisition of natural resources management company was more than meets the eye;
it created a new Paradigm

The holidays came a little early in December 2024 when Trilogy Innovations, Inc., acquired NRM Solutions to expand the software suite designed for natural resource management. The acquisition marked the beginning of a new Trilogy subsidiary company called Paradigm, under which the new NRM would operate.

Trilogy, a nationally recognized systems and software engineering company headquartered in Bridgeport, West Virginia, and with offices in Morgantown, had worked cooperatively for four years with the company who previously owned NRM. Brandon Downey, Trilogy Co-Founder and CEO, and Randy Cottle, Trilogy Co-Founder and President, were hands-on with NRM, pouring their expertise into the development of the software that helps effectively manage natural resource assets through innovation, cutting edge technology, and superior customer service.

It's not cliché to call NRM a revolutionary product, in that it provides natural resource owners and managers with easy-to-access information in what Downey called “a security-centric” environment. Users have real-time tracking of mineral assets and the ability to generate reports based on customizable drop-down selections. These features make it easy to track, manage, and verify revenue from mineral assets without the need for manual data organization.

Both Downey and Cottle wanted to create a new model, or paradigm, for the company, so they looked at what made them passionate. Both recognized the need for a more efficient and organized management system for mineral rights owners and managers and took a proactive approach in the development of the product. Pieces of the two are a substantial part of NRM, and that is what sets it apart.

“NRM has the security that Trilogy brings to the table through expertise in areas including cloud services, cybersecurity, data analytics, and software integration,” Downey said. “As a result, the software provides invaluable data insights to users, as well as peace of mind in accessing personal financial data.”

Cottle said, “When I looked at the challenge of efficiently managing natural resources, I saw a data-intensive process. Leaseholders would receive hundreds of pages of raw data from oil and gas producers. This was overwhelming because the amount of data made it difficult for people to make sure they were being paid accurately for the resources that were extracted from their properties.”

From architecting and designing the software to asking leaseholders insightful questions about their pain points in accessing and managing information, NRM has made knowing critical

information about natural resources and getting accurately compensated for it much easier. This is the new model. The new paradigm.
